Removal of Malware May Just Rescue Your Computer

In short, malware stands for malicious software. It is a blanket term used for any invasive software program, including spyware, adware, trojans, and viruses, that's sole purpose is to compromise your computer and/or the data stored on it. It can be difficult to determine whether or not you even have one of the programs present in your computer system. They only type of malware that makes itself known is adware because you are suddenly inundated with pop up advertising. In many cases, by the time you realize they are there it is too late.

We all know that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. There are few steps that you can take to prevent malware infection:

  • Never use a malware removal tool that warns you that you are infected and then advises you to download a program to get rid of the infection. These are not legitimate programs. In fact, they are malware disguised as anti malware programs.
  • Before you open any email message, make sure you know exactly what it is. Even if you know the sender well, you never know when his or her address book has been infected thus sending malware to everyone in it. If a message seems suspicious then it probably is. Delete it and move on.
  • When you receive a pop-up ad do not click on any part of the ad itself. Doing so can initiate the malware and you will become infected. Do not even click the close or cancel button. Use the x in the upper right hand corner to close the pop-up.
  • Don't be fooled by the words "free download". Unless you are 100% positive that the download source is safe, do not download any free downloads. They are renowned for being carriers of malware.
  • Common sense should tell you not to share files with anyone over the Internet, especially via file sharing applications such as Kaaza or Limewire. Again, these programs are also renowned for being carriers of malware.
  • Scan your computer on a regular basis for malware.
  • Maintain an up-to-date antivirus program and always use a good firewall.

Even if you take every possible step to avoid malware infection, you will still probably come into contact with it. So, how do you remove malware from your computer once you know you are infected with it? The simplest way is to use malware removal tool (software), also known as a spyware remover tool, which can remove present infections and prevent future ones.

When choosing a malware removal tool make sure that it covers as many threats as possible. Ideally, you should obtain one that covers every type of malware, not just spyware or just adware.
